1. Who we are
The Framer is operated by BAARS DESIGN, org. nr. 938 054 037, registered in Norway (baars.design). “We”, “us” and “The Framer” in these terms refer to BAARS DESIGN. You can reach us at [email protected].
2. The service
The Framer lets you browse a curated catalogue of public-domain artworks and display them on a Samsung Frame TV in your home via The Framer Bridge, a small app you install on a computer at home. The Bridge keeps a connection open to our servers and communicates with your TV over your local network, using the same community-documented local interfaces that Samsung's own apps use. For now every painting reaches your TV through the Bridge. It does not need to stay on: paintings change whenever it is running. The Framer is an independent product: it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Samsung.
3. Plans, prices and trial
A home (called a household in our systems) can send the free paintings, marked Free in the app, to its TV as often as it likes and play them as a slideshow. No plan and no card are needed. Every other painting needs a plan. Plans are billed per home. Light costs €3 a month: you can send any painting and keep up to five collections and rooms together, with slideshows of the free paintings only. Full costs €6 a month and adds slideshows of any painting on a schedule, unlimited collections and rooms, and the clock and weather on your TV. Prices include VAT where applicable (the exact tax is shown at checkout based on your country). Both plans start with a 14-day free trial. A payment card is required to start the trial; the first charge happens only after the trial ends, and you can cancel during the trial at no cost. Plans renew automatically each month until cancelled. Payments on the website are processed by Stripe, and we do not store your card details. If you subscribe in our iPhone or Android app, the App Store or Google Play processes the payment.
4. Cancellation and right of withdrawal
You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Settings page (Manage subscription); your plan then runs until the end of the paid period and does not renew. As an EU/EEA consumer you also have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal. Because the service is delivered immediately, at checkout you expressly request immediate performance and acknowledge that the withdrawal right lapses once performance has begun. The free trial means this costs you nothing: cancelling within the first 14 days always results in no charge. To exercise withdrawal or ask billing questions, email [email protected].
5. Your account
You sign in with a Google account or, where offered, an Apple account. You must be at least 18 years old (or have a parent or guardian's consent) to purchase a subscription. You are responsible for activity that happens through your account and for the devices you link to it. You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. This removes your profile, favourites, taste profile and the ratings it was built from, and your memberships. If you are the only member of a home, it also removes that home with its collections, rooms, slideshows, wall history, subscription record and linked Bridges. If a home has other members, it stays and ownership passes to the member who joined first after you. If you pay for a plan on our website, deleting your account cancels it first, and if that fails we keep your account so you are never charged for one you cannot reach. A subscription taken out in the App Store or Google Play can only be cancelled there, so cancel it before you delete your account (see section 4).
6. The artworks
Artworks in the catalogue are reproductions of works that the source museums have published as public domain (CC0 or equivalent). The Framer does not claim ownership of any artwork, and we credit the artist, title and source museum in the app. If you believe a work is included in error, contact us and we will review and remove it where appropriate.
7. Acceptable use
Do not attempt to disrupt the service, access other users' data, or use the service to distribute unlawful content. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service.
8. Changes and termination
The service is a small independent product and may change or be discontinued. We will make reasonable efforts to give notice of significant changes; if a change materially reduces what you pay for, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of the current period. These terms may be updated from time to time; we will announce material updates in the app or by email, and continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Framer is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the service. The service interacts with your TV over your own local network; you use it with your own equipment at your own discretion.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by Norwegian law. If you are a consumer residing in another EU/EEA country, you additionally keep the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of your country of residence, and you may bring disputes before your local courts or the EU online dispute resolution platform (ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr).
11. Trademarks
Samsung, The Frame and Art Mode are trademarks of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. They are used here only to describe compatibility. The Framer is an independent product by BAARS DESIGN and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Samsung.
